UW Center for Development and Disabilites

Yesterday Cole had his developmental follow up at the UWCDD and it went great!  They tested him for what a full term baby would be doing at 4 months.  Cole scored really high on the mental/social section (despite waking up at 5:30 am and not napping before the appointment at 10:30, he smiled the whole time and loved the evaluator).  On the other hand, he was a little behind on the motor skills portion of the test (I am going to blame this on him being tired!).  He had some trouble lifting his head up all of the way when he is on stomach and balancing his head while be held by his waste.  The evaluator wasn't too concerned and said that it was probably because he just needed to gain more weight.  We are going to have a physical therapist come to our house to work with Cole for a couple times to help him catch up and teach us what we need to be doing.

On another note, I had to go back to work, it was a very sad day.  But I absolutely love our nanny Kelsey, and Cole does too. Here are some pictures that she has sent me, he is such a happy baby!

Cole is 5 months old!

I can't believe it, Cole is already 5 months old, the time has gone by so quickly.  And Cole is doing amazing, we recently had an in home evaluation of Cole's development to see how he is tracking, and the evaluator said that Cole was doing extraordinarily well, I love hearing those words.  We have another appointment with the UW high risk clinic next week to do a more detailed medical evaluation, but I am pretty sure that everything will be great.

We are also finally getting out of the house a lot more and letting people hold Cole.  I know, I know, we were a little over the top with being protective of Cole, but once you have struggled so long to have kids and then have your first child rushed off to the NICU not knowing if you would ever see him again you will do anything to make sure to protect them.  We needed to be overprotective for our own sanity.  So feel free to ask if you can hold Cole!
